About the Author

Bob Eckhard is an ordained minister in the Church of England who has a degree in Contextual Theology and a Masters in Education.

'The God of the Cruel World' is the product of the Tough Questions Forum – a five week course for believers and sceptics which Bob developed for a final year project at theological college in 2005. His reason for writing the book was and is to provide a useful resource for people who want to think rationally through these issues about God, the world and suffering for themselves.

Other projects that are currently being developed includes

'Plausible Alternatives' - a rational look at the Genesis (creation) narratives with a view to finding more consistent explanations for what is being described

'Believer Absurdities' - an examination of contemporary believer behaviour and its attempts to explain God’s activity as happening in the world.
